OBJECTIVE: To determine the epidemiological, clinical and treatment characteristics of post-appendectomy SSI for CAA in the General Surgery Services of the HNRPP in the period 2018.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Basic research; simple observational and descriptive study. The studied population was 246 patients operated on for complicated acute appendicitis and confirmed by pathological anatomy in the period 2018. An ad hoc instrument was used for the present investigation.
RESULTS: The SSI post CAA was more frequent in men (70%), 35±10 years old, from Huancayo (66%); The SSI with the highest number of cases was SSI-SI (61%), the most indicated treatments were mechanical drag with physiological solution (81%), the use of trolamine as a topical antimicrobial (100%) and the indication of antimicrobial therapy EV with the scheme of ciprofloxacin and metronidazole (57%).
Conclusions: ISO is a high frequency complication in CAA that must be recognized and treated based on the best scientific information available.
